Vegetative growth demands increasing nitrogen for leaf and stem development. Flowering shifts to higher phosphorus and potassium for fruit and flower production. Late flowering tapers off as the plant matures.
How often should I feed my plants?
It depends on your medium. Hydroponics: continuous. Coco coir: 2-5 times daily. Soil: when the top inch is dry (every 1-3 days). Overwatering is more common than underwatering.
What EC should I target?
Start low (0.4-0.6 EC) for seedlings and ramp up through veg (1.2-1.6 EC). Peak flower may reach 1.6-2.0 EC. Always watch for tip burn โ if you see it, reduce EC by 20%.
Should I flush before harvest?
Flushing (running plain water for 1-2 weeks before harvest) is debated. In hydro and coco, a 3-7 day flush is common. In soil, many gardeners skip it. The key is reducing nutrients gradually in late flower.
When should I increase nutrient strength?
Increase gradually as the plant grows. If leaves are dark green with burnt tips, you are too high. If lower leaves yellow and growth slows, you may need to increase. Let the plant tell you.
